Mechanical Testing
Metallurgical Associates provides a complete range of Mechanical Testing to ASTM and other standards, and to unique corporate specifications. Our mechanical test reports include an MAI engineer’s evaluation of test results to your specific application. As discussed in a past edition of our newsletter (View the story in a PDF), test results that are “in spec” do not guarantee that failures or processing defects will not occur, or that the standard used is appropriate for your application. MAI provides comprehensive, engineer reviewed mechanical testing for:
- Hardness Testing – Rockwell and Rockwell Superficial, Brinell
- Microhardness Testing – Knoop and Vickers
- Tensile Testing
- Impact Testing
- Bend Testing
- Compression Testing
MAI’s computer controlled microhardness test instrumentation provides rapid accurate hardness profiles (right) and hardness of extremely small or thin components. Our Rockwell hardness (standard and superficial) and Brinell testing services provide fast, fundamental material characteristics data.
Metallurgical Associates provides Tensile Testing to determine ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and reduction of area, fundamental characteristics in certifying materials to specification and as critical supporting data in failure analysis. Impact Testing determines a materials resistance to impact loading and can be performed at a variety of temperatures to simulate real life service conditions.
