Dezincification

Dezincification – Case Study

dezincification

Our analysis of corroded Federalloy brass valve bodies identified dezincification – the selective corrosion of zinc in this zinc/copper alloy – as the failure mode.  Corrosion was caused by the high chloride content of the product passing through the valve.  MAI engineers evaluated this product and provided four optional alloy choices for the valve body which met all manufacturing and service requirements and are impervious to dezincification corrosion.
