Electrical Housing Residue Deposits
Polymer electronic housings were submitted to MAI to determine the composition and source of white residue deposits which resulted in rejection of the housing by our client’s customer.
FTIR analysis determined the deposits where composed of polypropylene glycol, a common chemical component of adhesives. Analysis of the adhesive used to seal the shipping container determined that out-gassing from the adhesive was the source of the contamination.
